Statewide forum held in Albany on developmental disability services

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A state agency focusing on serving people with developmental disabilities is traveling the state to find ways to improve services.

The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities hosted a forum at the Albany Advocacy Resource Center to help develop their next 5 year strategic plan.
They asked people with disabilities and their families what services are working in Georgia and what needs to be improved.

"If we don't get feedback from people and we don't get their input then we'll make decisions without really knowing what people want and our job, our goal is to make sure that we understand what people with developmental disabilities and their family members want as we move forward," said Eric Jacobson, Executive Director for the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Council leaders say better access to transportation, education, and jobs are among their top priorities.
 This was the fifth of 9 forums around the state.
