A judge on Wednesday decided a Tulsa man will spend his life in prison for raping his 10-year-old stepdaughter and impregnating her.

Police said DNA testing of the girl's baby son showed Eric Farbes, who was 39 at the time, was the baby's father.

He pleaded guilty this week to two counts of child sex abuse.

Police said the girl has some developmental delays so, when she went to the doctor last year with stomach pains and swelling, she had no idea she was 20 weeks pregnant.

She had just turned 11 years old.

Police said Eric Farbes admitted getting a 15-year-old girl pregnant, who later miscarried. He reportedly also admitted fondling another young girl but denied he raped his stepdaughter -- even after police told him about the DNA evidence.

"It made me furious, I'm not gonna lie, Tulsa Police Det. Kathy Still said.

Still has a daughter the very same age as the victim and she said she can't imagine what the girl endured.

In interview rooms at the David L. Moss Justice Center, victims between the ages of 3 and 17 reveal traumatic details. There is always a specially trained person conducting the interviews and police watching through a two-way mirror and camera.

Last year, they interviewed 1,700 children.

Detectives said Farbes' victim walked in the interview room to talk with a forensic specialist, it almost brought tears to their eyes. As she told them the abuse had not been just a one-time thing, it became harder for them to hear.

"It had been going on for some time," Still said. "As far as she could remember, at least a year. She was nine, just turned 10 when it started."

Still said doctors determined the girl became pregnant in December 2012, a couple of months before she turned 11.

She went into labor when she was 7 months along and gave birth to a baby boy.

All along, Farbes pleaded not guilty and demanded a trial, but, when it arrived, he plead guilty.

Still is relieved the victim didn't have to face Farbes in court and testify.

"I've been a cop almost 20 years, and I still get butterflies testifying, so an 11-12 year old girl, getting on the stand, telling the most intimate details of a traumatic event that happened over and over, I can't even imagine," she said.

Farbes' two life sentences will run at the same time, not back to back, still police said Farbes won't be eligible for parole until he's 78 years old.

The judge also ordered Farbes to get sex offender counseling while in prison.
