The Free Syrian Army (FSA) made it a must for British troops to work in coordination with the Syrian opposition if they wanted to enter Syrian territory.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), FSA's political adviser Bessam ed-Dade stressed that "Syria was not a country without an owner to let British troops enter when they want".
Unless British troops work in coordination with the Syrian opposition, we will not differentiate between Assad forces and British forces and consider both as enemies, ed-Dade underlined.
"We do not trust the British and consider their intention to be on Syrian territory as a negative development. Britain will divide Syria based on ethnicity and sects once the Assad regime falls," ed-Dade argued.
Earlier in the day, the British Chief of General Staff David Richards mentioned in a statement given to the BBC that his country would be ready for a military intervention if the crisis in Syria got worse.
