Job Description

Purpose of Position:    
The purpose of this team leader position is to implement, promote and enhance NMED's Voluntary Remediation and Brownfields programs. The team leader oversees assessment and remediation of contamination in soil, ground water, and other media at sites enrolled in the Voluntary Remediation Program or receiving Targeted Brownfield Assessments; provides brownfields redevelopment technical assistance to communities and developers; conducts program marketing through sector-specific outreach, public speaking, and workshops; supervises two technical staff; administers a Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund; researches and makes recommendations on policy issues; and assists in managing and applying for multiple federal grants. The team leader ensures that activities comply with state and federal environmental requirements, including the Voluntary Remediation Regulations (20.6.3 NMAC), the Ground and Surface Water Protection Regulations (20.6.2 NMAC), EPA's Brownfields Program, and grant conditions.
 
This position is a Pay Band 80.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and five (5) years of work experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources.

Employment Requirements:    
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.

Working Conditions:    
Work in office; in-state travel and overnight stays required. Outdoor field work required in all types of weather conditions.

Employee benefits are offered to eligible employees.
