A Massachusetts man accused of helping a disabled woman escape from a group home and then sexually assaulting her at his summer residence in Maine has been indicted.
The Portland Press Herald reports 58-year-old William Duffy of Attleboro, Massachusetts, was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury on 54 felony charges, including gross sexual assault and possession of sexually explicit material.
Duffy was arrested May 3. Sgt. Paul Thorpe says deputies responded after a woman called for help while being assaulted at Duffy's summer home in Sebago, Maine. Thorpe says Duffy had corresponded with her on a website for abused women before helping her escape from a group home in Carver, Massachusetts.
Police say the woman didn't have the mental capacity to consent to sex.
A phone number listed for Duffy has been disconnected.
