Not everyone thinks before they tweet, and US politicians are certainly no exception – enter Politwoops, a website set up by The Sunlight Foundation to archive deleted tweets from politicians. Politwoops scrapes the Twitter accounts of political figures, updating the site when tweets disappear. The website has a convenient search bar to sort through the over 3,000 deleted tweets already in its achieves, and also displays how long the tweet was public before the mistake was caught and corrected. For example, Florida Representative Jeff Miller's tweet was live on Twitter for nearly an hour before being deleted. The idea comes from similar sites in other countries wishing to keep an eye on what their politicians want to hide, ranging from typos and misinformation to major gaffes.
