Syracuse, NY -- The attempted robbery and stabbing of a developmentally disabled Syracuse man was among 10 robberies reported from June 11 to 17 in Onondaga County, according to The Post-Standard's Reported Crimes database.

Daniel Cuddy was stabbed four times after the robber demanded money, police said. He was recently released from the hospital into his mother's care.

Of the 10 stabbings, seven happened in Syracuse and three in the suburbs. Robberies were reported on Boyd Avenue in Solvay, East Molloy Road in DeWitt and Kinne Street in East Syracuse, the database showed.

In the city, one robbery was reported on Franklin Street in Armory Square. Others were reported along the South Salina Street corridor and Butternut and Lodi streets.

Robberies are crimes targeting people, unlike burglaries, which are crimes targeting possessions. Therefore, robberies are considered more serious.

There were 42 burglaries that week, compared with 50 the week before. Overall crime remained steady, with 214 crimes from June 11 to 17, compared with an updated total of 207 the week before.

Assaults, larcenies and vehicle thefts remained roughly the same both weeks.

The database includes a record of aggravated assaults, arsons, burglaries, all larcenies, murders or attempted murders, robberies and vehicle thefts. These crimes are defined as Part 1 offenses by the FBI. Here is a list of New York State crimes that are included in these categories.

Crimes investigated by state police are not included in this database. Their territory includes part of southern Onondaga County. Troopers operate on a different computer system that crosses county lines. At this time, that system is not compatible with the database used by the rest of the county.

The Reported Crimes database does not include every serious crime, but provides a snapshot of crime in the Syracuse area. Many departments take several days to several weeks to compile their reports. The crime statistics are updated weekly back to Jan. 1 of this year.
