(RALEIGH) -- A new report put out by the group Disability Rights North Carolina alleges that families of kids with dual disabilities have no where to turn for care.   Executive Director Vicki Smith said recent budget cuts have left these families with no option but to seek help elsewhere.

"For children with complex disabilities that means they're frequently placed out of state and away from their family, now, try explaining to a child why they can't be with their mother or father," said Smith.

She added that there are issues with case management and coordination of care that the state must address.  A legislative health services committee meets Thursday to discuss related issues.
