About this ebook

There was nothing like the early Alpine Trials of 1910 to 1914 in Austria to take the motor car to its limits, as Rolls-Royce discovered in 1913. For those dare-devils who flirted with death, taking their fragile motors over mule tracks with totally unprotected edges, the Alpine was the ultimate challenge. Written by a seven-time Alpine Rally competitor and featuring rare photographs, this book charts the full history of this illustrious motorssport event.

About the author

Martin Pfundner, born in Vienna in 1930, took part in seven Alpine Rallies in the fifties, and became Clerk of the Course for the first and second Austrian Grand Prix (Formula One) at Zeltweg (1963/64). This is Martin's third book on the history of motoring and motor sport, for which he was well prepared as co-founder of Vienna's monthly Autorevue, and editor of Automobile Year's German language edition.
