Thanx guys ! Works great and it now speaks french (even with a single hand, if you get that point ...)

I upgraded from LAMS 2.2 (four patches) w/o problems on Solaris. Wrote down the steps here:
http://edutechwiki.unige.ch/en/LAMS_installation_and_configuration

- Daniel :)

PS: Somewhere in the installation manual, you might point out to sysadmin people what kind of other servers they ought to install if they want chat, DIMDIM, videorecorder etc. to work. I mean just make links to the given tool pages like http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lamsdocs/lavidr10 OR just tell them to look at the addons listed in the download pages.

Don't know if the download pages need updating (http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lams/Downloads) with respect to addons. Guess so ;)

Great work with LAMS! I have deployed 2.3.3 on my demo server (http://tech-apps.net:8080/lams) and it’s working great. Had some quirks, but those were related to the new hardware we are still breaking in with the new OS.

Very smooth and easy install on Linux Ubuntu 9.10 Server. Once again, great work with LAMS!

I made a quick translation of the moodle interface (attached).
You have to put this file into the data/lang directory,e.g.
moodle/datadir/lang/fr_utf8/
(not moodle/lang !)

Tested with: Moodle 1.9.6+ and LAMS 2.3.3

Remark: If LAMS won't talk french, then it may be that the moodle user was talking English to LAMS the first time they met (there is a thread in this forum about this).
- log in as admin to LAMS and change the locale of the user or edit the LAMS MySQL table lams_user and set locale_id=6 (for french)
- Empty the client-side Flash cash

File is attached (needs some tuning ... I'll look into this for LAMS 2.4 probably)

Actually it should go in moodle/mod/lamstwo/lang/fr_utf8. But both will 'work'. I've updated the lamstwo module where language files are now distributed in moodle/mod/lamstwo/lang/, including this new translation (hope that's ok!)

Spyros, can you provide any more info on your group/subgroup name problem? I can't manage to replicate it.

Lesson name problem should be addressed soon: http://bugs.lamsfoundation.org/browse/LDEV-2471

I'm attaching here a lams-monitoring.jar that will correct the problem with lesson names not being saved with the proper encoding. It should only need to be installed on LAMS 2.3.3 on Windows servers whose users require utf8. As usual, make backups before installing, etc. Restarting LAMS is required.

Hi Jun-Dir and Ernie

What do you means by lams-monitoring.jar should only need to be installed on LAMS 2.3.3 on Windows servers whose users require utf8 ?

---
When we run
C:\lams\jboss-4.0.2\server\default\deploy\lams.ear>java -jar lams-monitoring.jar

we received ...
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from
lams-monitoring.jar

C:\lams\jboss-4.0.2\server\default\deploy\lams.ear>

and now we are not able to add a new lesson on this server.

Any suggestions?

Ernie you are able to see the problem directly in our server.
If you click on "Add a Lesson" and select a sequence "it seems to work ok" but at then end you don't see the lesson.

You're right, the above jar had a problem (just goes to show you shouldn't even add debugging without testing first. I'll attach the fixed one here.

I've uploaded the fix for this to http://bugs.lamsfoundation.org/browse/LDEV-2471 - just download the attachment 'lams.jar'.

I've also updated the attachment in the earlier post dated 30/11/2009 (if you right click and download it, it should save as lams.jar - yes, the fix is in a different file). It still displays as 'lams-monitoring.jar' in the post though, I can't seem to change that.

There are no problems with Greek Characters on Sequence's name when you add a new lesson.

Thanks

Hi Jun-Dir,

On a LAMS server running on Windows: use the save as sequence wizard to create a new location (folder) ; make sure the location name contains characters requiring utf8. Once added, the folder name displays as rubbish -

Thanks
