Miley lets homeless man accept MTV Video of the Year Award

Los Angeles - Miley Cyrus won the award for Video of the Year for her hit single Wrecking Ball, at Sunday's 2014 MTV Video Music Awards outside Los Angeles.

The singer beat out Beyoncé and her husband JayZ, nominated for Drunk in Love, as well as Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCV for Fancy, and Pharrell Williams for Happy, and Sia for Chandelier.

Cyrus, who sparked a furor at last year's MTV awards show with her controversial "twerking" on stage, avoided scandal this year.

This time she used the stage to promote a good cause. Miley let a homeless man, Jesse accept her award for video of the year.

In his speech Jesse spoke about the plight of homeless teens and encouraged all of Miley’s fans to visit her facebook page and to donate to the cause.
