I did a lot of searching for a 24" 1920x1200 LCD monitor. I read hundreds of reviews from amazon and other retailer sites like new-egg. Since I was not able to see most of these in the store, I had to go on reviews. Well, thankfully, this monitor is exactly as I expected. It is quick (I do play a few games like Crysis) and sharp and the colors are very nice. It comes pretty bright, and I had to turn it down - not a bad thing becuase I would rather have it too bright than too dim! The thing really rotates vertically very nicely, and has software to turn the view, too. I haven't figured out if it can do it automaticaly yet, but my guess is it can. It has 4 USB plugs on the side, too. They are inset a bit so the wires don't show at the left edge.

All-in-all, it's a great monitor. No stuck pixels after a week of use. I couldn't be happier. I'm glad I paid extra to get this better screen. Also, comes with a 3 YEAR MANUFACTURER WARRANTY - something I don't see mentioned in the Amazon write up.

-------------UPDATE 9/8/09 ------------
Well the monitor started to blink off and on at randome times, and sometimes it would dim and come back. Tried swapping it with another monitor and it's definitly this Samsung with the problem. (My Dad says it much be Vista, but he's an Apple guy. Need I say more?) Amazon is sending another next-day shipping, which is why I didn't get this from somewhere else - you can't beat Amazon's return policy.

Hopefully this new one will not have a failure. I still really like this montitor - I just must have gotten a bad one.

Monitor is working wonderfully. Guess I had a dud on the first one. Both the first one and the 2nd one had NO stuck pixels, and both are completely quiet - no buzzing that I have read about from some reviewers. The response time runnign games is instantanious to my eyes. I'm impressed. Glad I spent the extra $$$

Picture quality is great. I had the opportunity to compare it with 2443 BWX and picture quality is way better.

But, there is that buzzing noise. It is very loud (my computer makes a lot of noise and my aquarium makes a lot of noise and this buzzing noise was still driving me nuts). 2443 BWX does not make any noise at all.

I do not understand why they can make a high end monitor with great picture quality but they cannot solve this stupid buzzing noise problem.

I had to return it for a refund and now I do not know which monitor I will buy. I do not want to buy a low end monitor.

My Samsung 245T had a similar problem to that with a Dell 2408WFP that I had bought and returned: The Brightness gradient decreased noticeably from left-to-right. The left 1/4 of the screen was noticeably brighter than the other portions and there was considerable backlight leakage around those edges. I had to turn the Brightness down to 10-15 to get a standard B/W brightness gradient test pattern adjusted and the Contrast down to 40-50. The overall picture quality suffered because of the higher brightness on the left portion. The factory Color display settings were excellent. Text sharpness was excellent. This is the first monitor I have seen that did not have a Sharpness adjustment (at least with the DVI input). The 245T has a large number of color image adjustments that can be accessed using the on-screen menus or through the latest version of the MagicTune software that can be downloaded at [...].

Absolutely no buzz from the power supply in this 245T. The 245T had excellent side-to-side and top-to-bottom viewing angles but was marred by the Brightness non-uniformity.

I called Samsung tech support and explained the problem with the Brightness non-uniformity. They (as well as Dell did with the 2408WFP) said I had a defective monitor and that my choices were "Repair, Exchange or Return". I wonder about this as other 2408WFP users have reported the same problem and I believe that the Dell may use the same type SPVA LCD panel as the Samsung.

I did not see the brightness gradient problem with Samsung 930B, 2333HD, and 2433BW LCD monitors using the same computer system.
