“Being a Hindu and being a fanatic are two completely opposite terms. Hindu can never be a fanatic,” Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS), Shri Mohan Bhagwat said in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Bhagwat, addressing more than 5,000 RSS Swayamsevaks said said no political party in the country was “dear” to the Sangh nor any party its enemy.

Bhagwat said, “Every Indian is Hindu. The Muslims who were once Hindus in this country, even today continue to sing Bhajans in the form of Kavvali and perform Puja on Dargahs. Thus they have continued some Hindu practices.”

“There are four types of Hindus. One: those who are proud of the fact that they are Hindu, two: those who are ashamed to say they are Hindu, three:those who know they are Hindu and four:those who don’t know they are Hindu. This fourth class makes trouble,” Bhagwat said.

“RSS is working for last eight decades to unit the Hindus. Sangh is a matter of experience. More and more people should join the RSS to understand its work. Come, serve the nation for three-four years and know the RSS by your own experience. Most people know of the RSS by its visible activities. Some believe it is a paramilitary organisation, some think that it is an all-India music school and some believe that it is a gymnastics club. Actually, these are not the activities of the RSS but that of its members. It is very difficult to explain what the nature of the RSS is. One can understand it only by joining and working for it. It is an experience. RSS is open to everybody,” He added.

Clarifying RSS stand on politics, Bhagwat said, “RSS is capable and strong enough to enter politics, but we beleive the politics is an activity of political parties and not RSS. But one thing is clear, whenever there is something wrong going on in the politics, we would intervene.”

“Hindu dharma has been a dharma of humanity. All the great Hindu people believed in this. Today, there are numerous problems and conflicts in the world, whose solution lies in Hinduism. Those who lived on the other side of the river Sindhu were known as Hindus. Whether Buddha or Mahavir, they all delivered message of ‘unity in diversity’ and ‘Sarva Dharma’. RSS believes in this. For last 83 years, RSS works for unity of Hindus in Bharat. The organization is active in doing 1.75 lakh projects of social service. When we say ‘Hindus’ we mean all the people of India. But then some people detach themselves from our organization in the name of being a Christian or Muslim. Hindus were never fanatic but those who felt they were different and those who felt only what they believe was right and others were wrong ultimately brought fanaticism. To rescue the Hindus from this, the RSS is active. RSS believes that every Hindu will have to protect himself. Only this will make the society safer and make the nation united,” Bhagwat added.

At Adalaj Trimandir on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar highway, Bhagwat’s public meeting was attended by thousands of RSS workers and supporters.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Ex Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, Maha Gujarat Janata Party leader Gordhan Zadafia were some of the leaders attended the function.

Earlier Mohan Bhagwat held a meeting with Sangh workers and full timer ‘Pracharaks’ at RSS headquarter ‘Hedgevar Bhavan’ in Ahmedabad’s Maninagar area.

Bhagwat is following Sangh tradition of touring whole nation after becoming Sarsanghachalak(Chief). Of total 25 cities he has targeted to visit, Ahmedabad is third. This is Bhagwat’s first visit to Gujarat after taking charge as RSS chief.
