Why this petition matters

Congress and the individual states shall enact a law stating the following:

1. No legal entity such as, but not limited to, a corporation, partnership, limited liability corporation or company (LLC), shall be deemed a person for any lawful purpose.

2. Every legal entity shall, in its bylaws and Articles of Organization or other establishing document, state a particular purpose for its existence, other than conducting business or making money. This may be a "mission statement" or similar statement of purpose.

3. Any person may bring a legal action to compel a legal entity to come into compliance with its statement of purpose and, if successful, shall be awarded reasonable attorney's fees and costs in addition to any actual damages.

4. A person is defined as any human being of legal age and competence.
