Hit this spot while on a road trip from the northeast. Stiffest climbing gym I've ever been to, but the staff were extremely laid back and nice to talk to. On the smaller end of gyms with so many huge commercial gyms now, but great spot with a great community. I would recommend this to anyone given the amazing price. Thank y'all for the great climbing session!

My first impression of Wall Crawler Rock Club was their bouldering section, which made me question their name because I couldn't crawl up any of the walls. And before you shout "Skill issue!", let it be known that at Stone Summit I can comfortably climb V0-V3s, but I couldn't scale one of Wall Crawler's V1-V3s. Their bouldering room was wacky in all sorts of other ways too-- half the routes weren't marked with a V-grade at all, and Wall Crawlers chose to adhere to the outdoor bouldering safety method of "Drag the mat under where you're bouldering," which is great if you're an experienced climber/faller, but pretty unnerving to amateurs who don't want to miss the 5x5 ft. mat from 12 feet in the air.

Aside from the bouldering section I enjoyed Wall Crawler Rock Club though. The top-rope routes were well set and I enjoyed the ~6 routes I climbed, plus the automatic belay machines were great since I didn't have to spend an hour getting a belay certification. My friends and I also enjoyed goofing off in their in-house "gym," which has a bunch of tools that train climbing muscles like lats and forearms.

Overall however, I decided to stick to rating Wall Crawler a 3/5 star because of the cost. Wall Crawler Rock Club is just $2 bucks cheaper than Stone Summit despite the latter being 10x bigger, 10x taller, and having 10x more amenities like a huge weight room, free coaching, 4 locations, a modern website, and nicer shoes. I'm totally cool with a smaller, "local," gym having less perks than the big guys, but not when I have to pay the exact same cost. In that case I'll just drive 5 minutes longer to the bigger gym.

Very fun place. I took my niece and we are beginners and had a splendid time. Minus the Girl Scouts there on that one Sunday lol.

No safety protocols in kids summer camp. My 10 year old daughter was at Wall Crawler Rock Club for summer camp during the week of July 26, 2021. She was new to rock climbing and was climbing one of the walls using auto belay. She forgot to buckle her harness into the auto belay and just let go from 15 feet. She fell and hurt her spine.

Talking to her I realize there were no safety protocols in place. The kids were not told to wait for someone to come and check them before they start climbing and they were allowed to climb alone with nobody watching them.

I am not a climber myself so I assumed there are standard safety protocols that a climbing camp would follow. I feel so stupid sending my daughter to a dangerous camp without asking any questions about their safety protocols.

Super small parking lot, super small place. Walls aren't as tall nor are they plentiful, but it's super homey and the staff is super helpful and available. Wish the routes were clearer/knew where the finish lines "should be."

We had a great experience with a small group reservation for my daughter' s birthday on Sunday morning before the space opens. The three kids had a fantastic time, the cost was very reasonable and Nick was attentive to helping the kids with belays. Everyone was masked, we felt safe - and the kids were able to enjoy something really fun.

I highly recommend this place for kids! They have open climbing practice session times for kids in the afternoons on weekdays. Once, when my 6 year old got to the top and got too scared to move, the owner climbed up to the top to talk to him, assure him and help him come down from a panic attack. Then, another sweet instructor worked with my kiddo to restore and build his confidence.

I've been frequenting WC since August and am still loving it. The staff is laid back and personable and the routes are definitely challenging enough to keep me interested.

On Friday nights they have a student special with discounted prices and are open later than most nights. It usually isn't too crowded on Fridays, so it's a great time to get some practice in without having to wait too long to use the route you want.

Disclaimer for beginners: The bouldering routes - even those marked as VEs and VBs (very easy and very basic, respectively) - can be tough for beginners, but there's a pretty good amount of skill-level variety on the top rope walls. I've heard this place referred to as a "climbers' climbing gym" - meaning that the routes are set to a difficulty level that caters to those "real" Spiderman-esque climbers who go on trips every weekend and compete and such. I'd have to agree with this assertion, but don't let it discourage you from checking out the gym for yourself. I'm certainly not a pro climber and I've always enjoyed myself.

Hubris - a word I had to ask, "What does that mean?" when used casually in a sentence the other day. Defined: exaggerated pride or self-confidence; it seemed fitting along with a little good old cult like machismo.

We Googled Wall Crawlers and it looked good, especially since it was within an easy walking distance of our MARTA restricted travel radius. We'd climbed before and this wasn't my first belay test, but we felt like outsiders that had unknowingly stepped onto unfamiliar turf. After some tepid questioning and a few raised eyebrowed answers,
"Yes, we'd just want to climb, like the wall. A day pass - yes."
"Hey ya, we're from out of town, we need everything."
"Yes, we'd really like to rent ALL the gear."
Total - $50 for two; 2 day climbing passes and all the gear sans chalk bag. More to come on that...

After the back and forth and gearing up we quickly caught on that every rock gym likes different belaying techniques and requires you to belay their way or the highway. Wall Crawlers owner was apparently very adamant about using a two handed hand-grip belay technique which was a departure from my usual grip and slide but I guess, what the owner wants, the owner gets - we just played along but rolled our eyes at what we considered to be micromanaging proprietor hubris.
After, the initial rocky start (pardon the pun) our handler as I'll jokingly call the him (the lone staff member) grew to like us (and vice versa) and eventually showed us some of his favorite techniques and cheered us on along the various routes.

The owner wasn't at the gym when we were there but he seemed to have an almost fearful grip over his employees. I asked for chalk (no chalk barrels or blocks out) and the staff member called the owner to see if he could rent us chalk! "The owner doesn't want us to rent out chalk anymore because people have been stealing it." Seriously?! Who (that's not in the first grade) steals chalk? Whatever.

Wall Crawlers had many routes of various grades and angles, some bouldering, and a good indie rock playlist, in addition to having aerial silks in the building. I'd climb here again but it'd behoove the owner to loosen his or her semi Draconian grip on the gym and staff...
