Sheriff confirms missing Wynne officer Nick Swink recovered

CROSS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The Sheriff's office has confirmed missing Wynne police officer Nick Swink was found Saturday afternoon.

According to the Cross County Sheriff J.R. Smith, Officer Nick Swink's body was found at 3:00 p.m. by John Mitchusson, a local fisherman.

Sheriff Smith says he was identified with his wallet, badge and other identifications still on his person.

Exactly where he was found has not been released.

Mitchusson searched diligently for the officer since he went missing after falling off a bridge into the St. Francis River January 11.

The Sheriff's Department would like to all the volunteers and rescue workers that were involved in the recovery effort.

The family held a Memorial Service in honor of the officer today at 10 a.m. at Vanndale Baptist Church.
