Former Robbinsville cop being sued for attack on disabled couple

TRENTON – Lawyer Robin Lord is suing the ailing Robbinsville cop who allegedly attacked a disabled couple and their son at the Project Freedom housing complex on Sept. 17, 2012.

The lawyer filed papers in civil court seeking damages from ousted Sgt. Mark Lee, whose neurological ailments were blamed for his alleged bizarre conduct. Papers also name the township and Project Freedom.

The victims are a husband and wife who were in their wheelchairs when Lee burst into their apartment, knocked the mother over and started taking his pants off in view of their 4-year-boy and a caretaker.

The boy and caretaker tried fighting the cop, but it took some of his own Robbinsville police colleagues to step in to get Lee out of the house in an assisted living project.

Lee, 45, was determined to be suffering from a neurologic disorder stemming from too much calcium on the brain.

As a result, he was permitted by Mercer County prosecutors to enter a probationary program that kept him out of jail in return for losing his job.

Damages are not typically specified in New Jersey lawsuit. That is left to the jury to decide based on legal arguments.

But in addition to Lee personally and in his official capacity, Lord sued the township police, township itself and the housing project for compensatory and punitive damages, alleging they all failed to protect the family.
