NTCA wants Internet content giants paying into USF

More details are becoming clear about the filings various agencies have made in response to the Federal Communications Commission's request for comment on a national broadband plan. Telephony reports the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association asked that Google and other Internet content providers beguins contributing to the Universal Service Fund. Such payments would help telcos handle the middle mile capacity requirements created by those firms. The request comes about the same time that U.K. carrier BT has begun talking about the possibility of charging Internet video companies to ride its network.
