What Tablets Looked Like Before The iPad And What They Look Like Now

Plastic. Lumpy. Windows. Buttons. More buttons… handles? Yup, this is what tablets looked like before the iPad came out. After the iPad? Well, um, it’s been a lot different.

It’s definitely reminiscent of how Android phones looked more like Blackberry before the iPhone, but I’ve got to say I sorta wish some tablet makers veered off the black slate path. No, not by re-living the inglorious past (because they look god awful) but because I selfishly want to play with something different.

For the record though, it looks like most other non-iPad tablets have maintained a landscape-is-preferred-type form factor just like the fug tablets of yore. [@ReiVersuri via Daring Fireball]
